Insurance and pension solutions for self-employed professionals

When you are self-employed, your personal income depends directly on the continuity of your business. An accident, a prolonged illness or a claim from a client can have professional, financial and family consequences. Does your current protection adequately reflect these interdependencies?

Assidu SA supports self-employed professionals in Switzerland — including doctors, lawyers, architects, consultants, tradespeople and sole proprietors — in protecting their income, business activities and personal assets. Assidu SA is an independent, family-owned Swiss insurance brokerage, founded in 1979 and registered with FINMA under No. F01460823. We coordinate:

  • The analysis of your risks
  • Your insurance solutions and your personal and occupational pension provision

Our objective is to reduce the risk that an unforeseen event affecting your professional activity could have lasting consequences for your personal financial situation — or vice versa.

Protecting your income and assets: voluntary occupational pensions and Pillar 3a

As a self-employed professional, you are not subject to mandatory occupational pension provision and are not automatically covered by mandatory accident insurance under the UVG/LAA. It is therefore your responsibility to structure your protection according to your income, financial commitments and family circumstances.

Together, we analyse:

Your protection in the event of incapacity for work due to illness or accident, including loss of income and the fixed costs associated with your business.

Your insurance coverage in the event of disability or death, taking account of your professional and family commitments.

Whether voluntary affiliation to an occupational pension scheme is appropriate for your situation.

The use of Pillar 3a, for which the maximum tax-deductible contribution is higher if you are not affiliated with a second-pillar pension scheme.

The objective is to find the right balance between protecting your current income, safeguarding your family's financial security, building retirement capital and making appropriate use of the tax deductions available under Swiss law.

Professional indemnity, public liability and business property insurance

In any professional activity, a claim for damages can have significant financial and reputational consequences.
Assidu analyses your risks and helps you structure coherent insurance coverage with two objectives: protecting the assets connected with your professional activity and limiting the potential consequences for your personal assets.

Are you hiring your first employees?

Many self-employed professionals start out on their own and subsequently grow their business by hiring employees. This creates new statutory obligations and insurance requirements:

  • Affiliation with an occupational pension scheme (BVG/LPP) becomes mandatory once an employee's annual salary exceeds the applicable statutory entry threshold.
  • Accident insurance under the UVG/LAA is mandatory for employees and can be supplemented by additional accident insurance.
  • Daily sickness allowance insurance is generally voluntary but can help finance continued salary payments during an employee's incapacity for work and protect your business's liquidity.
